Spider-Man: No Way Home has put cinemas worldwide on fire!
At the global box office, Spider-Man: No Way Home film became the first billion-dollar-grossing film of the pandemic era, reaching the milestone while holding firmly to the North American box office top spot.
Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third independent Spider-Man movie featuring Tom Holland and 6th Tom Holland Movie/Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe released on the 16th of December in India and 17th December worldwide. Ever since it’s release, it has crossed the anticipated and taken the box office by a storm. Fans in India had gone crazy and shows started from as early as 4AM in the morning. Everyone was in a race to see the film before others to be at bay from the spoilers. Another reason for this instalment having the biggest buzz since Avengers: Endgame is that it brings back the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield the actors who played Spider-Man erstwhile.
The film has been ruling the global box office and recorded a strong second weekend in the Indian markets. A report on boxofficeindia.com states that the superhero film earned Rs. 150 crores in the first week and almost Rs. 27 crores nett in its second weekend. Besides recording big numbers for a Hollywood release, ‘No Way Home’ also recorded the second-best second-weekend post the pandemic. The film hit the Rs 175 crore nett mark and is expected to cross the Rs 200 crore nett mark in its third weekend. These are very good numbers for the film considering that it lost more than 50% of its screens at major multiplexes following the release of Ranveer Singh’s 83 and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa.
Meanwhile, at the global box office, the new Spider-Man film became the first billion-dollar-grossing film of the pandemic era, reaching the milestone while holding firmly to the North American box office top spot. The film grossed $467.3 million in North America and $587 million internationally, raking in more than $1 billion over 12 days which is roughly around Seven Thousand Five-Hundred Crores in Indian Rupees.
