Ankahi Kahaniya
Complex stories revolving around loneliness, love and modern relationships very simply and impactfully brought to screen in this Anthology of three shorts. The performance by the ensemble is astonishing! Ashwini Iyer Tiwary’s short with Abhishek Banerjee in the lead stands out the most!
Bollywood has another anthology in its hat and it is just getting better with every. Ankahi Kahaniya has three short films revolving around the concept of loneliness, love, and modern relationships. The stories tap on extremely complex human emotions and psychology and yet are so clearly able to translate the same to a visual medium so accurately.
My favorite short has to be the 1st one directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwary, the director of Panga. With Abhishek Banerjee in the lead, this short focuses on the hard life that a cosmopolitan city puts the workers into.
The performances are fantastic and everyone is so dissolved in their characters. Special mention to Abhishek Banerjee. You couldn’t have imagined anyone else playing the part if not him. The film is aesthetic and shot beautifully making it a visual treat. The second short, ‘Madhyantar’ is set in the mid-90s and the details in the setting are so beautifully captured.
On the whole, ‘Ankahi Kahaniya’ is a definite watch for multiple reasons and will be even perfect for people who appreciate artsy and psychologically intense movies.
