Bunty aur Babli 2
This modern take on Bunty aur Babli is funny, entertaining and with plenty smart twists. The performances are hilarious with Rani and Sharvari stealing the show!
Bunty aur Babli are back after 15 years and this time, there are 2. The old-school con duo is up against a millennial couple. Rani and Saif must do what it takes to protect the brand they created and retain the tag of being the couple who couldn’t be caught. This time, the ride is equally hilarious and filled with some ‘Abbas-Mastan’ level twists.
The performances are over-the-top but in a good way. Although Abhishek was badly missed in the sequel, Saif Ali Khan replaces him with his very famous comic-timings and killer looks. Siddhant Chaturvedi adds a modern touch in his own style. But the show-stealers are Rani Mukherjee and the debutant, Sharavari Wagh. It is her debut Bollywood film and she knocks it out of the park. She looks steamy and supplements that with great dialogue delivery and overall performance. Rani Mukherjee comes back as the same old Vimmi and will give you a laugh riot with her performance.
The direction is great and so are the visuals. However, the film could have been trimmed a little more with unnecessary un-enjoyable songs being edited, and rather, that time could have been given to polishing the climax and giving an end-to-end treatment to the supporting characters. Another very big downside is the soundtrack. The prequel had a fantastic album which is still a playlist topper with hits like Kajra Re, Dhadak Dhadak, Chup Chup Ke. This film doesn’t have even a cent of that.
On the whole, it is an enjoyable and entertaining film. Yes, it is a no-brainer but yet doesn’t disrespect your intellect. If you like light-hearted fun comedy dramas, this one is for you! Or simply, if you are a big fan of Bunty aur Babli, you’ll love this film just like me except that you’ll miss Abhishek a lot!
