It is the IPL season, and the hail of cricket is echoing in every house all over the world. And during this time, comes a mind-blowing film that will not only ignite the cricket lovers but give an inspirational learning to everyone pursuing their passion and chasing their dreams.

‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ is a biopic based on the life of Pravin Tambe who made his International Cricket debut in IPL at the age of 41. Pravin Tambe, a spin bowler was struggling hard to get an opportunity to play Ranji Cricket all his life. As they say, life is unfair at times. He never got one. Yet, till he turned 40, he never gave up, never lost hope and consistently kept playing club cricket/gully cricket tournaments while hustling with various day jobs he had got under sports quota along with managing a his family. While he kept chasing his dream, he finally got a breakthrough with the Rajasthan Royals in IPL after being spotted by scouters and selected by Rahul Dravid.

This very struggle and twist filled life of Pravin Tambe is fantastically transpired on screen by the director Jayprasad Desai. The simple life of Tambe, his hustles, the Mumbai life and the everyday little things in the life of every family is captured very essentially. The screenplay is very engaging and sharp. The dialogues too are authentic and very honestly written. Not over done at all.

On the performance front, Shreyas Talpade is bang on. He pulls of not only the Marathi accent, but also replicates Tambe’s body language and personality. It was an absolute treat to see Talpade in a sports-drama after Iqbal. It is a known fact that he understands cricket decently as he has studied the same while shooting for Iqbal. Unlearning that and adapting to Tambe’s style has been seamlessly executed by Shreyas Talpade. While focusing on the game, he doesn’t miss on dialogue delivery and facial expressions. On the whole, he nails all aspects. The other actors including Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Anjali Patil add the needed. Especially Ashish Vidyarthi as the coach is splendid.

This film will be a treat to all the cricket fans out there. A bonus while they are already enjoying the IPL. The timings of the makers to be releasing this on Disney+ Hotstar couldn’t have been more right. Not only to the cricket fans, to everyone looking for a light-hearted film to enjoy with family, ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ will definitely be the one to choose. Not only does this film entertain, but also gives some important lessons of persistency, hard-work, never giving up on your dreams and lastly, it also gives you a ray of hope- that something, some day will work out and for good. The best part is that it doesn’t get too preachy while delivering its ultimate message and just focuses on the story knowing that the story will do the rest.
