Pagglait
A dark drama-comedy set against the backdrop of a funeral, Pagglait is a film with emotions & heart. While portraying a real picture of the Indian Society, Pagglait outlines a strong feminist message. It is a must-watch for multiple reasons!
A dark-drama-comedy set amidst a funeral with a message and cause, Pagglait dives deep into the little human tendencies and psychology. This story of a woman who re-finds herself soon after losing her husband recently after marriage is not only different but also not what you’d probably see often in Bollywood. Recently, ‘Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi’ was released, which was also based on this theme. What makes Pagglait different is that it keeps feminism as its central theme amidst the funeral drama.
“Agar hum humare faisle khud nahi lenge na….toh koi aur le lega!”
The writing of Pagglait is fantastic. A smooth screenplay with organic and raw dialogues. It is shot aesthetically capturing the essence of the small-town and its people. Pagglait feels so real and another reason for this is the performance of the ensemble. The actors are living their characters. Every single actor is under the skin of their parts. Especially, Sanya Malhotra is bang on. Even with minimum dialogues, she is able to communicate so loudly with her face! Also, Raghubir Yadav, Sheeba Chaddha, Sayani Gupta, Aasif Khan & Shruti Sharma perform commendably.
On the whole, the film brews slowly and takes its time to unfold the climax. Plus, the central concept is so different that not everyone’s taste buds can appreciate the same. Having said this, try keeping your preferences apart and watch Paggalit as it is films like these that show the real picture of our society and at the same time, try to bring about change! Pagglait is a Netflix Original Film streaming on the said platform.
