Dhamaka
Dhamaka is shot in a single room and is able to keep you hooked & how?! This mainly has to do with Kartik’s spectacular performance & a ‘to-the-point story’. Regardless the shortcomings, Dhamaka will be a decent watch!
Dhamaka is based on a 2013 South Korean film, ‘The Terror Live’ starring Kartik Aaryan and is directed by Ram Madhvani, the director of Aarya. The story is a fictional take on the lives of News Reporters and channels who are TRP hungry and the extent they can go to for lime-light. Though fictional, it is able to draw a relatable picture of the current scenario of Indian media and News Channels.
Dhamaka is shot in a single room and is yet able to keep you hooked. This mainly has to do with a crisp screenplay and editing without a lot of characterization. The film doesn’t waste any time in any back-story of any sort and stays on its point. It is usually hard to keep the audience engaged in a restricted perimeter but the director manages to pull this off along with a great performance. Kartik Aaryan is an extremely fine actor capable of much more than just ‘lover-boy’ roles. He proves the same with his act in Dhamaka.
Yes, this film has shortcomings. It seems very rushed and all over the place at times. No layers and depth in characters make it look incomplete. Plus, it fails to make an impact. Yet, on the whole, Dhamaka is a must-watch for the maker’s attempt and Kartik Aaryan’s performance.
