AK vs. AK, a Meta humor-thriller film is what you wanted to end your year with. A testament to the fact that Bollywood can go beyond comfort and also to the fact that Anil Kapoor is by far one of the best actors Bollywood has ever-seen! Entertaining, hilarious and off-the mundane beat, you can’t just afford to miss this film.

A Meta Film is one in which the lines between fiction and reality blur and the actors play themselves. Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap are playing themselves and have ignited a spat which leads to the filmmaker AK kidnapping the superstar AK’s daughter to seek revenge and to show Anil Kapoor his worth. 
Meta movies are usually a complicated work given the fact that the actors are in a hall of mirrors with themselves enacting themselves without being too pretentious. And trust me, the performances in this film are so real that the lines actually blur! Especially, Anil Kapoor is terrific! He was, is, and forever be the superstar! Anurag Kashyap is great with his part!
The only and probably the biggest downside of the film is that it is too stretched and it trips towards the climax. Though absolutely unpredictable and uncanny, the climax is foolish and your intellect doesn’t digest that! However, this film is so unlike what Bollywood makes and the makers deserve an ovation for attempting a genre so complicated like this. The writing is so organic and the director, Vikramaditya Motwane knows his craft so well. The film is also brilliantly shot with so many single-shots and raw cinematography. The action is stunningly choreographed to look so real as well.

On the whole, this film is entertaining, different, and definitely deserves a shot! Not only will you have fun and fall in love with both the AKs all over again!
