Masaba Masaba

Masaba Masaba is a fictionalized series based on the lives of the mother-daughter duo Masaba and Neena Gupta who also play themselves in the series.

Though dramatized, it gives you a fair peak into the duo’s lives which is crazy, dysfunctional, and messy! I thought that this series will be more of a documentary surrounding the fashion world, but I never saw a slice-of-life comedy coming my way! Stumped and stunned after watching this out-and-out packet of entertainment!

The creators Ashvini Yardi and writer-director Sonam Nair have made sure that we have a delightful binge session. It is extremely challenging to make someone’s life into a film/series. But they pull it off lightly and with absolute ease. This series will make you laugh and at the same time inspire you by giving valuable life lessons. The narrative is simple yet very edgy and keeps you hooked throughout. I loved how social media is used as a character in itself. Also, look out for the scenes where little Masaba takes over the present-day Masaba. Everyone has a kid within themselves. Using this technique, the makers want to give us so many messages.

Neena Gupta is undoubtedly the best actress Bollywood has. She was brilliantly enacting herself. But I was equally surprised by Masaba Gupta’s performance. She is so organic and smooth with her act and dialogue delivery. Unexpected and so beautiful! I would definitely want to see a Season 2 of this and also see more of Masaba on screen! The other actors in the ensemble are just too good at their part, too.

Masaba Masaba is simply that series that will surely life you up and give you some great vibes and feel-good. Just 6 episodes of roughly 30 minutes each. This Netflix Original Series is going to be a super quick watch. I highly recommend it!
