It would be safe to say that India has got something that can be compared to Stranger Things or Dark.

A police officer, Arup played by Sanjay Kapoor is posted to the northeast to solve a mysterious murder case. Fate makes him meet Dev, a Shaman who can connect to the soul of a recently dead person and travel to the ‘Last Hour’ of the dead’s past. He teams up with him to solve the mystery. Lesser he knew about the complications of this mesh of life, death, time, and souls. What lies ahead is a suspense-filled and hypnotizing supernatural crime-thriller that is unlike anything you’d have witnessed.

As complicated as the plot sounds, it has been very simply crafted. The screenplay is very neatly written and the director has a tight hold on the narrative. On top of this, the performances are stupendous. Sanjay Kapoor is such a fine actor and you are only left wondering as to why didn’t you see more of him previously. To capture the socio-cultural milieu exactly, the makers have capitalized on local actors for the entire ensemble. And this works fantastically. All in the cast including Shaylee Krishen, and Shahana Goswami are so good with their part and under the skin of the characters. Especially, Karma Takapa, who plays Dev holds innocence and suspense commendably and his moods are apparent on his face. The director, Amit Kumar has done a fantastic job in his very debut Series. Another beautiful thing about this series is its visual appeal. It is so well-shot and crisply edited. The northeast has been captured raw and aesthetically. The landscape, the architecture will only transport you there. The BGM is hypnotic and joins hands with the visuals to enhance the atmosphere even more.

On the whole, this series not only tries something totally unique and different, but it is also able to achieve it. The Last Hour has all the binge-worthy qualities. It will keep you hooked, intrigued and trust me, you won’t be able to let it go until you’ve finished watching it! That’s my #SpoilerFree review without giving out a lot of the plot or context. Do binge this and let me know how you liked it!
