Bandish Bandits
There is romance, there is family drama, there is comedy, and of-course, there is amazing music.
Okay, so I have loved this series to a crazy level and this might seem less of a review and more of a frenzy fan rant. But trust me, it is just brilliant and has everything needed to give you a wholesome binge session. Bandish Bandits is a musical romance-drama that is centered around Radhe, a classical singer, whose life changes when he falls in love with a contemporary pop star.
The writing of this series is crisp and perfect. There are a lot of characters and every single character is layered and has a purpose. The dialogues are extremely real and organic. It has a lot of genuine comedy coming out in the middle of nowhere. And this is the best part of the series. The comic dialogues and scenes are so well-written that they make you laugh hard naturally without even intending. The direction is excellent. Anand Tiwari, the director of Love Per Square Foot fame hits the ball out of the park with his firm grip on his craft. He is able to bring his story on screen so flawlessly. Set in Rajasthan, the milieu of the state has been captured not only aesthetically but also in very much detail. Ancestral Havelis, palaces, desserts… the film is a visual treat!
On the acting front, the series has an ensemble of immensely talented actors and everyone is just too good with their respective roles. The veteran Naseeruddin Shah, Sheeba Chadha, Atul Kulkurni are a delight. The lead duo of Shreya Chaudhry and Ritwik Bhowmik is absolutely cute and adorable. Both of them are such great actors. But, Kunal Roy Kapur and Rahul Kumar (Millimetre from 3 Idiots) have my heart. Both play their comic characters with their own peculiar quirk and you’ll have a laugh riot every time they are on screen. And lastly, the music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is a treat to the ears.
More than just a musical romance-drama, it is an inspirational story of passion, dreams, about finding oneself, and about following one’s purpose. This series calls for a definite watch. I am sure all of you will love it as much!
